Stern Business School Women's Conference - Another Gathering of Great Women
It was really special to return to NYC for the SWIB conference and connect with women who wanted to share their stories. What was striking is how we all reach the same general conclusions about what's important personally and professionally when you reach that 20+ year mark in your career. Echos of my corporate life rang true in hearing Pattie Sellers from Fortune talk about the new level of comraderie among women in corporate America - a huge shift from when we started our career in the early 80's. Susan Jurevics from SONY hit the nail on the head about the importance of writing your own job description. She regailed us with stories about "Barbie" from her days at Mattel. Arianna Huffington inspired us with her authenticity and her personal power that she derives from her genuine interest in people. A major message around Social Media - be genuine and share experiences that will connect you with other people. Social Media content is not the stuff of Press Releases. She also encourages women not to hide their age and for all of us to make sure we get enough rest. Thanks Arianna - we will take all this to heart. Here are her words of wisdom for all of us to share :)

Harvard WSA Dynamic Women - Great new Web Avenues for Artists
I was lucky enough to follow up the NYU conference with a similar event at Harvard - my 5th year at this event - Dynamic Women in Business. New opportunities out there to sell and market fashion from Of/a Kind which is set up to discover new designers and Refinery 29 for "hot trends, cool shopping, and deals" - plus other opportunities like Custommade. There are certainly more ways to get work out there online!
