Seaglass

West Coast Update!

on Sun, 06/26/2011 - 16:26

I have been fortunate to  be on the California coast this past week.  Just discovered the Hayes Valley arts district in San Franicisco this week.  What a treasure trove of lovely, one of a kind gifts and artifacts!  Stay tuned for more about new places to find my work in Northern and southern Californa.

The Birthplace of SeaGlass!

Today was indeed the calm before the storm on the Back Shore of Gloucester, MASS.  A lunchtime stroll along this coastal walkway led me to a bed of rocks that was never there before!  Alas, the harsh winter had its way, but left behind new treasure hunting grounds.  These photos tell me that this is the stuff seaglass is made of - nature's very own "rock tumbler!"  Enjoy these photos and remember that it takes 30-50 years to make a good piece of seaglass!

Searching for Great artisan Galleries - where's the SeaGlass?

on Thu, 03/10/2011 - 17:00

I have been on the road for several weeks for a combination of artistic and marketing pursuits!  A trip to Maryland ended with my first visit to the American Craft Council Show in Baltimore.  Wonderful, creative work, but no seaglass art work to be found.   Good news or bad news? The fiber art really jumps out - just exquisite work to be seen and worn!   A trip to Bethesda revealed the incredibly changed landscape for local galleries - more hip, less local, "young trendy" and certainly less interesting.  Kudos to Waygoose for towing the line on artisan goods!
